stability shoes worth it?

A friend of mine was saying that I should look into getting some squat shoes to help me weight training
he said they add stability
he sent me some good options and they cost about a hundred seventy dollars
what do you think about using these types of shoes while you wait training are they worth the investment or just a scam?
